*The street is named for Charles Louis du Couëdic, seigneur de Kergoualer (17 July 1740 – 7 January 1780), a French naval officer who served in the Seven Years War, participated in two expeditions to India, and is celebrated for his valor during the Action of 6 October 1779, a battle between the French frigate La Surveillante and the English frigate HMS Quebec.
